You Are Missed on Every Walk...

When our beloved dachshund Tofik passed away, the flat grew very quiet. This is the story of how two small engraved pieces carry him forward, one for Joasia and one for her partner.

The house feels so empty after losing our dachshund.

In the mornings over breakfast, in the evenings before sleep. Without our dachshund Tofik, the flat feels strangely hollow. We feel deeply for Joasia, who has been a cherished member of our team for many years. But she is not the only one who misses him. Her partner had grown just as attached to that small, faithful companion, and now both of them feel the gap that this sweet little dachshund has left behind.

Tofik the dachshund, remembered

A piece of memorial jewellery for each of them, to carry the memory of their dog.

Because Joasia has spent years preserving memories for our customers in the form of memorial stones and beads, she knew at once that she wanted to create something lasting for herself and her partner as well. But Tofik presented a particular challenge: as a dachshund, his coat was short, so a hair bead was not an option. He had also not been cremated, which meant an ash bead was not possible either.

Engraved portrait of Tofik

Like a photograph, only something far more.

The answer came in the form of engraving. We took a portrait photograph of Tofik and an imprint of his paw, and transferred both onto a simple engraving plate using our precision laser engraving machine. In this way, each of them can keep their sweet dachshund close, always near to their heart.

How this sweet dachshund came to have his name.

Everyone knows Toffifee, those small caramel and hazelnut sweets in their many shades of brown. Tofik's coat held exactly that same warmth of colour, and because he was every bit as sweet as Toffifee tastes, the name arrived naturally in its Polish affectionate form: Tofik.

Tofik's paw print, a lasting impression

Saying goodbye to Tofik shows us how many different shapes grief can take, and how even the smallest companion can leave behind the largest absence. It also reminds us how important it is to have something tangible to hold after a loss, something real that you can reach for, because the space left behind is real too.
